Wyo Parks offers Lifetime Veterans Permit
Wyoming resident Veterans with 50% or more service-connected disabled are eligible for a lifetime pass from Wyoming State Parks.
The pass can be used at parks, recreation areas, archaeological sites and historic sites under the State Parks umbrella. The Lifetime Veteran’s Pass allows free day use and camping for life with the exception of camping at Hot Springs State Park.
State Parks and Cultural Resources Director Dave Glenn explained, “This program underscores our commitment to honoring the bravery and dedication of those who have served by providing accessible and cost-free recreational opportunities. We aim to support the well-being and quality of life of our disabled veterans, allowing them to enjoy the landscapes of Wyoming’s parks and past stories of our historic sites.
Stephanie Dillmon, Concession & Revenue Manager for State Parks added, “The Veteran’s Pass is the centerpiece of our Parks for Patriots program, which honors our veterans, active-duty military, and first responders. We are continually looking for ways to add new activities and events.”
Another way State Parks show appreciation is to offer free entrance to all parks and sites for veterans and active-duty military on Memorial Day, Flag Day, and Veteran’s Day. First responders receive free entrance on Patriot Day (9/11).
Applications are available online at reserve.wyoming.gov. The permit is valid as long as the holder maintains Wyoming residency.
It should be displayed so that it is visible in the lower driver’s side windshield of the vehicle for the duration of the stay at any Wyoming state park or historic site. In addition to the permit, a photo ID is required to gain access to the parks/sites.
Completed applications and documentation should be emailed to wyoparks@wyo.gov or mailed to Wyo Parks, Attn: Vet Pass, 2301 Central Ave, 4th Floor, Cheyenne, WY 82002.
