You can help cancer patients through volunteerism

Sadly, we’ve all been touched by cancer. Here is a way you can help others. The PEAKS to Conga group is organizing one last community fundraiser to recruit a new group of organizers and leave the small grant budget in good shape for locals battling cancer in 2025. There is a meeting March 14, 6-8 p.m. at The Colonel Lounge in Cody.

The five elected officials were greatly appreciative of the SWAG bags. When stopping into one of their offices, I was greeted with “Big Horn County is in the house.” At the gala I saw an elected official, and he said he thinks about Big Horn County and the generosity of the people often. So, we must be doing something right.

One of the reasons I was there was for a Wyoming State Park & Cultural Resources commissioner meeting. Happy to report we approved a grant for the Town of Greybull to revitalize the town’s basketball/tennis courts. Congrats Greybull.

• Basin/Greybull Farmer’s Market: They will be at the Greybull Rec Show, March 15 at 9 a.m.

• Basin First Baptist Church: Grief Share, Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. Men’s Breakfast, March 8 at 8 a.m.

• Greybull Rec: Dodgeball Day, March 7 for grades K-12 from 1-2:30 p.m. Adult Basketball open gym, Tuesdays 6:30-8:30 p.m. from March 18-April 22. 

 • Big Horn County School District No. 4: Super Supper & Art Show March 7 at 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. at Riverside Middle and High School. Each bowl of soup sold will benefit the Basin Food Pantry Totes for Hope Program and a new campus green space.

• Friends of the Basin Library:  Book sale! Wednesday, March 5. Friends of the Basin Library monthly meeting Monday, March 17, 10 a.m. at BHC Library. Deadline is March 17 to sign up at the BHC Library for 14 character actors in Dead Man’s Saloon Old West Murder Mystery and BBQ Dinner Fundraiser for the Friends of the Basin Library. The actor fee is $15 for adults; children actors are free. Two rehearsals on March 20 and 27, 6-7:30 p.m. Performance and BBQ Dinner Fundraiser. Saturday, March 29, 5 p.m. at Harris Hall. • Shell Community Hall: St. Patrick’s Day dinner, March 15, 5 p.m. Traditional corned beef and cabbage with delicious desserts.

• Basin City Arts Center: Thursday, March 6, monthly meeting 6 p.m. in the ballroom. Everyone is welcome. Saturday, March 15, Basin City Arts Center Dinner & Talent Show. Soup and cookies, 5-6:30 p.m. It’s $6 per person, $25 for immediate family. Free for kids under 5! Talent Show at 6:30 p.m. Donations appreciated.
