You can teach an old dog new tricks

The old saying you can’t teach an old dog new tricks isn’t exactly true.
Just like people, the older a dog gets the smarter they become. Our pups know when we are up to something like giving them a bath or clipping their nails. Even if we hide the towel and clippers, somehow they just know.
So when it comes to teaching an old dog a new trick, you have to get creative and make the learning worthwhile. Perhaps instead of a pat on the head, a juicy piece of bacon will be inspirational enough to learn a new trick.
The same philosophy goes for people. For instance, if you wanted your husband to help with the laundry, dishes and housework, perhaps relaying that you purchased him a new gun that you would love to show him and take him out to target practice if only you had some help with the chores. For some husbands that may be enough to get him moving on the to do list. For others it may be a fishing pole, a barbecue griller a car. You get the idea.
Of course, most of us are not made of money so probably those types of rewards are few and far between or even unrealistic. Well for that, I do not have a solution. Although I did say you can teach an old dog new tricks, I never said it would be easy.
