Barracudas bite at local swim meet

Patti Carpenter photo[/caption]The North Big Horn Barracudas made a good showing at the Winter Fiesta swim meet held at the Aquatic Center in Powell, Jan. 18-19.“It was awesome,” said Coach Ross Fuller. “Every single swimmer knocked time off in their events.”Fuller, who has been coaching the team for about five years, said he has the team focus on good form during their practice sessions and it is paying off with significant reductions in times during meets.The mid-season swim meet attracted around 280 participants. Fuller said it’s one of the largest events of the season.“The team competed very well against bigger teams from places like Billings and Sheridan,” said Fuller. “Billings alone had about 90 kids there competing.”All of the swimmers on the team are also members of USA Swimming, the national governing body for the sport of swimming in the United States. About 400,000 swimmers belong to the organization,  promoting swimming through opportunities for swimmers and coaches of all backgrounds to excel in the sport. Swimmers of all levels, up to and including the U.S. Olympic Team, participate in the nationwide club, as well as coaches and volunteers.Next up, the Baracudas will travel to Billings for another very large meet, the BAC Rocky Mountain Invitational, to be held at Rocky Mountain College, Jan. 31 – Feb. 2.
