Bob’s Open Mic Night raises over $1,000 for veterans charity

Bob’s Diner raised over $1,000 on Saturday, Jan. 27, to benefit the non-profit organization Saddles In Service (SIS), represented locally by Tom Bercher of Shell.
“This is the third time we have hosted an open mic for charity,” remarked Robbie Skillman. “And every time, this community shows up.”
SIS provides military veterans and frontline workers experiencing PTSD with equine therapy and horsemanship lessons as a means of resetting the body’s nervous system. With outposts in Texas and Southern California, SIS has hosted 679 heroes to date; beginning in 2024, the organization will further expand its reach with the opening of bunkhouses on its California property, providing heroes nationwide with the opportunity to travel and board, free of charge, and experience both community and healing. Following the completion of the main horsemanship program in Texas or California, those same heroes then travel to Wyoming, where Bercher leads them on multi-day trips across the Flitner ranch and gives them a taste of ranch life.
Online donations may be earmarked for the Shell outpost and will go toward the travel arrangements, horse leases, feed, and care, and other daily operation costs and upkeep.
