 100 years ago 

July 3, 1924 

The first baseball game of the local season ended in a 7-7 tie between Basin and Hyattville on Sunday last. The home team left the field under the impression that the game was won 7 to 6, but a re-check of the score book later revealed an error which, when corrected, gave the Hyattville boys another run and tied the game. Arriving in Cody over Burlington, Tuesday noon, the bronze statue of Buffalo Bill was the center of interest in the former frontier town as it was unloaded from its special car in the afternoon. The lifelike statue of the west’s most famous scout, sculpted by Mrs. Harry Payne Whitney of New York City, will be unveiled before the public at a special celebration. 

75 years ago 

June 30, 1949 

Miss Georgia Jones, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Jones, Greybull River Route, became the bride of John Eldon Kinghorn, son of Mayor and Mrs. Eldon Kinghorn of Basin. 

Members of the Warrior’s Den honored Bill Saban with three cheers when they met last Thursday afternoon. Bill has completed his Cub Scout work and is now old enough to join the Boy Scout troop. Present were Bill and Jimmy Saban, Gary Skovgard, Gary Flyr, Dennis Beck, Mark Brown, Michael Bennett, Marvin Porter and Jimmy Luther. 

50 years ago 

July 4, 1974 

Laverne Rison has announced this week that she has filed for State Representative from Big Horn County on the Democratic ticket. She stated her campaign will be financed entirely by money raised on her behalf by the Big Horn County Democrats. 

Cindy Davis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glen W. Davis has been accepted in the National Aquatic First Aid School Sports Acres Camp August 17 through August 27 near Portland, Ore. 

It was announced today that Richard F. Scott has been appointed administrator of South Big Horn County Hospital. Mr. Scott is presently the administrator of Roundup Memorial Hospital and Home in Roundup, Mont. He has been there since the first of the year. 

Mayor Chester E. Flyr, with the approval of the town council Monday night appointed Raiford A. Brundage to fill the unexpired term of Jim Ingalls, town councilman. Ingalls resigned from the council at Monday’s meeting as he will move within the next week into his new house outside the city limits. 

25 years ago 

July 1, 1999 

Jennifer Cooper, Betsy Crosby, Hannah Irvine, Alex Nauman, Leanna Stanley, all of Basin, Mandy Bullinger of Otto, and Celeste Rasumussen of Burlington will be among the members of the Pepsi-Cola Wyoming All- State Marching Band, which will perform at the annual 4th of July parade in Cody on Sunday. The parade appearance is the first of many planned performances. They are also preparing to perform at the Tournament of Roses Parade Jan. 1. 2000, in Pasadena Calif. 

Two new names have been added to the list of residents at the Bonnie Bluejacket Memorial Nursing Home. They are Maggie and Mollie Bluejacket. Maggie is a 12-week-old Boston bull Terrier, while Mollie, the elder, is a 10-year-old Bassett Hound.
