Nearly 600 gifts wrapped at Little Shoppers

Kindness is like snow. It beautifies everything it covers. 

Five hundred ninety-eight gifts were wrapped in three hours on Saturday at Little Shoppers. Couldn’t have done it without the missionaries from The Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-Day Saints, Susan Wynn, Buffy, Gary, Brendon, AJ, Ross, Cys Sylvestor, Ashley Spatz, Paintock FFA members, Catherine Foss, Suvanna Miller, John Schuttemeier, Michelle Arnett, Greybull FFA members, Jerilyn Hall and everyone my weary mind can’t think of right now. As you shop the after-Christmas specials, please consider bags, tissue papers, kids and men’s gifts. We do not need boxes, labels or bows. 

The water district offered to let us store the totes in their building, but I fear there are too many for the area where they are designated. If anyone would have room to store them, it would be helpful. We have been putting them in the basement of the chamber. The stairs to the basement are very steep and we would prefer not to have to traverse them. 

Christmas lights around the town are looking great. Even WYDOT got in the spirit. We still have free lights if anyone would like some, including solar lights. We can help you put them up. A lot of white lights, which some groups consider to be representative of Christ as the light of the world. I did not know this!

• Antelope Butte: Opening day is Friday for the Antelope Butte Ski Area. Lifts turn at 9:30 a.m. The Montucky Entertainment Series kicks off the season’s live music rotation Saturday with “Just Another Band” featuring Shell locals JD Kunkel on guitar and Shelby Cole on drums from 3 to 5 p.m. in the lodge. 

• United Methodist Church: Basin-Christmas concert with Michael Yenny, Dec. 21, 4 p.m. Free love offering. Light snacks served. Christmas Eve service, 7 p.m. Hyattville Christmas Eve service 5 p.m. 

• Town of Manderson: Santa is coming to Manderson, Dec. 21 at Town Hall. Community Chili Feed and Potluck at 5 p.m. Santa arrives at 6 p.m. 

• St. Andrew’s Episcopal/Peace Lutheran Church in Basin: Christmas Eve candlelight service, 4 p.m.

• The Burlington School: Family Holiday Dance, Dec. 27 at the Burlington School Auxiliary gym, 6-9 p.m.
