• Police Report

The following calls were received by the Basin Police Department last week (Persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and charges made upon initial arrest may be amended or dismissed as determined by the County Attorney):

June 17 — Basin PD made field contact with a resident on South Fourth and A Street.

June 18 — An officer assisted the general public on South Sixth Street. 

An abandoned vehicle was reported on South Eighth Street.

An officer assisted the general public with a dead battery at Basin Community Center.

June 19 — There was a suspicious vehicle at Overland Express Mart.

A scam was reported on South Fifth Street.

Information was given regarding alarm testing at Big Horn Rural Electric.

June 20 — A child was reported missing on North Seventh Street, child was located.

Suspicious person on Crescent Drive.

Officer assisted the Wyoming Retirement Center on a 911 call.

June 21 — Livestock was seen on North Sixth Street; officer was unable to locate.

A resident found medication at Overland Express Mart.

Basin PD received a call from a resident on South Sixth Street with a domestic animal problem.

June 22 — An officer made field contact at South Fourth Street and West Wyoming Avenue.

• Sheriff's Report

The following calls were received by the Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office: (Persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and charges made upon initial arrest may be amended or dismissed as determined by the Court:

June 16 – 11:23 a.m.: Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office in Basin assisted a traveler with locating a ranch in Hyattville. 

1:51 p.m.: A traffic complaint was made in the construction zone on Highway 20 South in Greybull; officers were unable to locate. 

3:52 p.m.: Livestock abuse was reported on Lane 38 in Burlington, found clear. 

4:41 p.m.: A residential burglar alarm was reported on Lane 35 in Emblem, found clear. 

6:51 p.m.: An extra patrol was conducted in the town of Shell. 

9:41 p.m.: A traffic stop was conducted and a citation issued on North Fourth Street in Basin. 

11:19 p.m.: A traffic stop was conducted and a citation issued on Highway 20 South in Basin. 

June 17 – 9:17 a.m.: Officers assisted the USDA in Greybull with a civil standby for property assessments. 

5:13 p.m.: A remote-controlled car was found at North Seventh Street and Second Avenue North in Greybull; its owner was located. 

9:59 p.m.: Officers assisted Highway Patrol with a car vs. moose crash on Highway 16 in Ten Sleep. A 66-year-old female was seriously injured and found unresponsive, medical care was summoned.  

June 18 – 5:13 p.m.: A bar check was made at Stockman’s Bar on South Fourth Street in Basin. 

June 19 – 10:54 a.m.: A civil issue was advised at Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office on Murphy Street in Basin. 

2:40 p.m.: A grass fire resulting from an out-of-control burn was reported on Third Street in Burlington; Burlington Fire Department responded.

7:09 p.m.: A livestock issue was reported on Highway 14 in Shell; the response unit was cancelled. 

June 20 – 10:10 a.m.: Found property was reported to Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office on Murphy Street in Basin. 

10:51 a.m.: A found dog was taken to Greybull Animal Pound on Road 28 in Greybull. 

5:52 p.m.: Dogs were reported loose on Lane 35 in Emblem. 

June 21 – 2:51 a.m.: The wildfire on Third Street in Burlington reportedly rekindled and units responded again. 

12:15 p.m.: A traffic hazard was called in on North Main Street in Burlington as rocks fallen from a truckload were removed from the roadway. 

12:48 p.m.: A vehicle vs. deer accident outside of Big Horn County was handled by dispatch at Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office on Murphy Street in Basin. 

2:11 p.m.: Sheep were reported out on Lane 42 in Basin. 

4:19 p.m.: Sheep were reported out again on Lane 42 in Basin. 

8:29 p.m.: A caller reported their daughter was overdue from a hiking trip in Ten Sleep; the call was referred to Washakie County who was able to make contact and reported the hiker returned safely. 

June 22 – 9:47 a.m.: Horses were reported on the wrong property on Lane 35 in Emblem. 

2:04 p.m.: An extra patrol was conducted on Beaver Creek Road in Shell. 

2:13 p.m.: A traffic complaint was reported on Highway 20 South in Greybull. 

3:45 p.m.: A report of animal abuse on Golf Course Road in Basin was discovered to be unfounded. 

5:45 p.m.: Domestic goats at large were reported on Lane 42 in Basin. 

5:52 p.m.: Information was given on a civil matter on Lane 35 in Emblem. 

6:30 p.m.: An ordinance violation regarding goats at large was reported and a warning issued on Lane 42 in Basin. 

8:36 p.m.: A suspicious door-to-door salesperson was reported on Sagebrush Lane in Greybull and investigated, found to be a legitimant business.  

9:59 p.m.: A traffic stop was conducted on Hart Avenue in Basin resulting in an adult arrest. 

ARRESTS

Washington Talimao of Hurricane, Utah was arrested for speeding in a 70 mph zone with a revoked license at 10:20 p.m. on June 22 in Basin.
