Yard of the week changes to holiday theme in October
“Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see,” Mark Twain. One of the fun things we do as a chamber is being a member of the Town of Basin Beautification Committee. This is the group that chooses the yards of the month. For October, November and December, the yards will be judged on their holiday decor. We really are looking forward to seeing what residents will come up with.
Currently, we are working with the county on the 250th celebration. The county decided on two projects. One is restoration of the Civil War cannons in front of the Basin library. The second is a photo book. For the bicentennial, there was a book printed with photos from the Bighorns. The photos were of the same places in 1900 and 1976. The new book will reprint those photos as well as photos of the same locations in 2026. Several of the communities in this county have projects they are working on too, including the Cowley log gym and Historic Red Shell Schoolhouse. The committee encourages each of the 13 communities in this county to theme their 2026 celebration to reflect the semi quincentennial.
Reminder if you have something for Chamber Chat, please send it to us by 5 p.m. on Sundays.
