Yellowstone Park visits near record high

CODY (WNE) — Yellowstone National Park welcomed 4,762,988 recreation visits in 2025, slightly more than last year and the highest in the last decade except for the record-breaking number of more than 4.8 million in 2021.

The National Park Service released the 2025 visitation report Tuesday. Since 2015, more than 4 million visitors have come to YNP every year except 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic and 2022 during the June floods.

Last year, despite a 43-day partial government shutdown – the longest ever – the National Park Service worked to keep parks open and accessible whenever possible so visitors could continue to experience the nation’s natural and historic treasures. 

Highlights of the 2025 visitation number include 86,891,452 visitor hours spent in park and 1,238,983 overnight stays.
