Loads of fun, music and food this weekend in Basin

Today’s quote is in honor of Basin’s Lilac Days this weekend. Lilacs bloom in May. You may wonder why we wait until June to hold Lilac Days. Easy answer is, we kept getting snowed on in May. 

Tons of fun this weekend with Lilac Days on Friday and Saturday. Extremely excited about the ribbon cutting for the mural Friday at 6 p.m. Bring your lawn chairs to enjoy the ribbon cutting, music, food and the sealing of the time capsule. The mural was possible because of the Wyoming Cultural Trust Fund, Big Horn REA, TCT, SBHC Water District, Gottsche, UW Extension, Town of Basin Linda Weeks, CJ Duncan, Ellison/Greene Family and Diane Burch.

Saturday, please come to Washington Park in red, white and blue to honor the USA’s semi-quincentennial. The program ends with a 21-gun salute and Dakota Butcher playing “America the Beautiful.”  

Last week the three chambers in Big Horn County spent some time with two staffers from the Wyoming Office of Tourism.  In south Big Horn County, they were able to see Devil’s Kitchen, Red Gluch Dino Tracksite, Historic Red Shell School, the Greybull Museum and the Museum of Flight & Aerial Firefighting.

This week the director of the Wyoming Office of Tourism is coming to Big Horn County for a few days. We will be meeting with the county commissioners to discuss countywide tourism opportunities.
