What issues are important to you this election?

Do you have issues that you are passionate about and want to know where candidates stand on those issues? Have you asked them? 

The last few months, I’ve been meeting with and talking to candidates running for federal, state, county and municipal races. Not as a reporter/editor, but as a voter who wants to be informed before August 18. A couple of them joked about me interrogating them. That is okay because as voters we need to know where they stand. Sometimes we agreed, sometimes we didn’t. At least we were having a dialogue. 

Do you know how those running feel about public lands? Property taxes? Mental health? Education? The Wyoming Business Council? Water rights? Water shortages? Immigration? Housing shortages? Economic growth? Conservation? Agriculture? Health care? Energy? Data Centers? Direct distribution to towns/counties? Windmills? Services to seniors? Aging infrastructure? Vocational training? 

Will your candidate be willing to work civilly across the aisle? Do they care about feeding seniors and children who need help? If they are elected, will they still be accessible to you? Will they listen to the majority of what their constituents want or vote how they are told? Will they or have they taken dark money from out-of-state donors? Are they in favor of term limits? How do we keep our youth to stay and work in Wyoming? What are their ideas to create more jobs? What do they think about raising sales tax to make up for the money lost from property tax cuts? 

Most important questions directed to you: are you registered to vote? Is every eligible voter in your house registered to vote? Can you help take a registered voter who can’t drive get out to vote? 

Two years ago, our voter turnout was extremely low. Together we can change that.
