Summer means Vacation Bible School
Next Monday the Basin First Baptist is hosting their annual Vacation Bible School. What wonderful summer memories VBS brings back for many of us. Spending a week singing songs, learning Bible verses, making crafts and friends.
To this day when one of the songs from past VBS is played in church, you can see the kids and the adults that attended do the motions. Even from ten years ago.
While telling mom that VBS was coming she broke into the song. “I’m in the Lord’s Army.” We sang the song repeatedly doing the motions each time. Then giggled
The song originally came out in the 1940’s. The earliest print date I could find was 1943 when it was used ... you guessed it ... in a VBS program.
“I may never march in the infantry
Ride in the cavalry.
Shoot the artillery.
I may never fly over the enemy.
But I’m in the Lord’s army!
I’m in the Lord’s army! (Yes sir).
I’m in the Lord’s army! (Yes sir).”
VBS is not about a particular religion or church or denomination. Everyone is welcome. There are other churches in the area hosting VBS too. How fun if kids got to go to all of them!
The one at the Baptist Church is called Emerald Crossing. “Children aged 3 up to those going into 6th grade are invited to join us as we look at Psalm 23 to answer the age-old question: Does God really care? The adventure starts on Monday, July 13th at 5:45pm! VBS runs Monday through Friday from 5:45-8:15 pm. Friday night, families are invited to the ending program at 5:45 p.m. followed by an ice cream social.
Pre-registration is not required but is encouraged. You can register your child(ren) with the link below! Hope to see you all there!
