Greene joins Missing People of Wyoming nonprofit

Barbara Anne Greene, editor of the Basin Republican Rustler and longtime contributor to the Lovell Chronicle and Greybull Standard, recently added to her list of accolades by becoming the Missing People of Wyoming nonprofit’s newest board member. 

Greene was raised by Wyoming natives. Her father served in the Navy and the family lived across the country, with Greene graduating from Washington-Lee High School in Arlington, Va. before receiving her bachelor’s degree in behavioral sciences from National University in San Diego, Calif. 

She met and married a Marine aviator. After getting out of the Marines they moved to Los Angeles. He passed away while on a state department assignment in the middle east.

She moved back to Wyoming in 1994 and spent 10 years in county radio. From there, she went to TV and then to the newspaper. In her capacity as a reporter, Greene wrote a series of stories about MMIP in Wyoming in 2021. The stories were picked up by news outlets throughout Wyoming, the United States and even Canada. Each year since then, she has continued to bring the issue to their readers through editorials. 

The profile picture on Barbara Anne’s Facebook page is Jade Wagon, who was murdered in 2020 on the Wind River Reservation. She promised Jade’s mom Nicole that the picture would stay until there is justice for Jade.  Her Missing People of Wyoming stories have been featured on the front page of Big Horn County Newspaper publications. 

Grene and second husband Mark Reno married in the early 2000’s.  They live outside of Basin on a small farm/ranch.  She serves on the following boards: Wyoming State Parks and Cultural Resources, The Wyoming Lifeline, Bighorn Basin Outdoor Recreation Collaborative, Advisory Board for the Food Bank of Wyoming, Camp Bethel, South Big Horn County Senior Center, and Big Horn County Fire District No. 2.  Plus numerous committees including the BHC Semiquincentennial and Town of Basin Activities. In her spare time, she runs the Basin Area Chamber, takes care of her 95 year old mom and runs an animal rescue called “Felines and Friends of Wyoming”.

Barbara Anne said she is very honored to serve on the Missing People of Wyoming board.
