At the County Commissioner meeting August 4, the commission decided to close the Lovell courtroom.

In July, the county had an extended discussion with the county attorney, law enforcement, judges, circuit court personnel and other county employees about the feasibility of keeping the courtroom open. At the same meeting, the possibility of grants to upgrade the courtroom were discussed as well.

At the August 4 meeting, the commission discussed the matter at length.  They cited resources and expenses as factors in the decision to close.  A letter confirming the decision will be sent to Circuit Court Clerk Starla Gesch.

AIRPORT

Airport Manager Paul Thur gave the department update. He presented a grant for a Jet A Tank build project. The commission voted to move forward on the grant.

Also presented were the Runway Rehab Project post-construction repairs. Thur noted that the contractor’s quote was significantly higher than the engineer’s estimate.

The request for proposal for the Russell Hangar has been issued.

The airport board approved adjusting the hangar lot least rate from $0.05/sqft/year to $0.08/sqft/year for all lessees with leases older than three years.

Thur reported his discussion with Bruce McCormack, a commissioner on the Wyoming Aeronautics Commission.  The discussion revolved around the Wyoming Aviation Capital Improvement Program and the county’s match reduction proposal.

Land Planner Stephanie May presented the subdivision request for Double H.  The commission approved the request.  She also discussed Wyoming DEQ septic application, floodplains and subdivision regulation amendments.
