Burlington took a solid victory in Cowley, winning in three games. “We had a definitive win over Rocky Mountain. The girls played so well. Everyone was on their ‘game’! Passing was spot on, hitting happened with power and the girls’ timing was impeccable. We had some wonderful blocks, several defensive saves and great serves as well,” said Coach Natoshia Heaton. “The girls really showed how hard they have been working and the improvements they have been making.”

Saturday was the Wayne Moorman Memorial Volleyball tournament in Bridger that pitted Burlington against four Montana teams in pool play before heading to the bracket play. The Lady Huskies beat Absorkee, Shields Valley and Reed Point/Rapelje in two games and split with Gardiner. Their wins placed them into bracket play where they lost 1 game to 2 against Custer/Hysham.

“It was a long day. We had to leave early and got home late. It was frustrating and mentally taxing, but the girls kept their chin up and worked hard despite some challenges that were outside of their control. It was a new challenge for them not being able to warm up before each match. I think this took some toll on their level of play and confidence. In the end, we were as successful as possible and got to see different competition. The teams were tougher and it was fun to play a bit more competitive volleyball. All in all, I am proud of the work the girls are putting in to become the best players they can. They play like a team, encourage each other, work hard and strive to do their best individually so collectively we are a powerhouse,” said Heaton.

Burlington will head to Casper for the 1A/2A Jamboree at Wyo Sports Ranch with pool play on Friday and bracket play on Saturday.
