Letter to the Editor: What are we voting for?

“Don’t California my Wyoming.” “Public Lands in Public Hands.”

These are two refrains I have either heard or read lately. I have a tough time believing we are going to elect Chuck Gray to represent us. He grew up in California and moved here 14 years ago.

He is a founding father of the Freedom Caucus; didn’t we just give them the boot and yet here we are. Do you really think he will represent the people of Wyoming or our values. Or use our state as a launching ground for national attention.  He’s the guy who handed over our private data information. If I remember right, it’s the Feds-0 and States -25.

Public lands, do you really believe Rep. Hageman will protect our public land?  I read in the Casper paper she is still defending selling public lands and of course roadless rules. She does not listen to the people of Wyoming. Over 90% of us don’t like this but we are going to vote for her as a Senator who doesn’t listen.

Will either one ask for regulation on AI, no they will rubber stamp anything what the president wants. Has anyone heard them talk about the affordability crisis, I haven’t.

How about the pinch on our agriculture, diesel prices sky high, fertilizer and pot ash going up. Transportation costs, even freight on trains are going up. A trickle up economy is happening from the farmers to our stores will cost more.

Transgenders and birther tourism seems to be what they are concerned with. Hageman voted for the BBB driving our healthcare up does she have a plan to lower costs, haven’t heard anything yet and remember the little guy’s tax breaks end in 2027, but not for the rich. Has anyone heard them talk about extending those credits, no, crickets.

They both are pretty much mute on the war and tariffs and now we are in a trade war with Canada, haven’t heard anything yet. I just got to say really folks. Here’s one that will blow your mind putting Trumps name on Ford’s Theater has been floated and looking at Watergate again. Here’s one you didn’t think of. Data centers use natural gas to power their electricity, guess what’s going to up. Have you heard anything from them about helping with higher utility prices, nothing yet, but we are going to vote them in. We are not being governed but robbed.

Respectfully,

Lynn Meier/Basin
