Letter to the Editor: Why buy oil from Russia?

Dear Editor:

President Trump’s latest decision about foreign policy could be seen as helping Russia at America’s expense. When the United States buys Russian oil products, it gives Russia money that can help fund its government and military.

Helping an enemy financially raises serious concerns about America’s national security. While this may not legally qualify as treason, critics could argue that it is an act of betrayal against the United States. Aiding and abetting an enemy is a crime.

Why buy oil from Russia when we could buy it from one of our allies instead?
