Rebounding with Ellison in the 1940’s

If you are a regular reader of this paper, you know about Pages of the Past. As Steva Dooley peruses the papers, she lets Pam and me know if she found something of interest to us.
Recently she found sports stories titled “Rebounding with Ellison.” The stories were about the Basin Bobcat basketball team. The author wrote about the team’s place in the conference, fouls, etc. There were also predictions of winners for upcoming games of other teams in the area, including Powell, Riverton, Thermopolis, Lander, Worland, Lovell and Greybull.

Chickens are amazing animals. They tend to run on instincts more than thought, I think, but still, they are amazing.
Last fall, I bought 15 pullets to raise and replace my old flock. The plan was to have them in a new coop by the time they started laying and then, later this spring, remove the old flock and make soup.

At the last chamber lunch meeting, Jennifer Fernandez told us about an opportunity from Sen. Parental choice in education is guaranteed in the Fourteenth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, which protects the fundamental right of parents to direct the care, upbringing, and education of their children. While parental choice in education may be a new concept to some, the U.S. Supreme Court has recognized this right since the 1920s.

We all have that “crazy” friend that does things on the spur of the moment. To them what may seem like a good idea today could turn into a disaster tomorrow.
Let me tell you about this friend of mine. We will call her Diane (not her real name). Diane had just experienced a devastating heartbreak when her two year relationship to her high school sweetheart ended.

Dear Editor:
My Democrat and Republican friends, I hope you all remember that we are not a democracy. We are a constitutional republic. Our two parties have very little in common. I am Republican.
I have no desire to control women. I do support life. God gave us man and woman. They each have rights. When they create a baby, that baby has the same rights as the parents. Now you have three sovereign citizens. Who has the right to destroy any of these lives?

Freedom Caucus: Governor’s budget unaffordable, unsustainable

In late 2023, Governor Gordon submitted his state budget. The governor described his budget as “disciplined,” “business like,” “forward-thinking,” “fiscally conservative,” “realistic,” “practical,’” “balanced,” “prudent,” “sustainable,” and “living within our means.”
The Wyoming Freedom Caucus has thoroughly reviewed the governor’s budget and would ourselves describe it as unaffordable and unsustainable.

The Cook's Corner: Steva’s Sticky Box

The sticky box isn’t actually sticky, it is a box for sticks.
Let me explain. We heat with wood, so building fires is essential to our comfort in the winter. When cutting wood, I like gathering the little stuff that a lot of people would just leave behind because it makes starting fires easy and fun. We ended up calling my collections of small branches “stickies,” hence the name “Sticky Box.”
