Shortly after I started writing this column, we had a barn cat mama that had a predator of some kind destroy her den and kill all but one of her kittens. It was a horrible trauma for her. She showed up at the house with one tiny kitten about 3-weeks-old. The saddest part was that she couldn’t settle enough to nurse the kitten. She had been so traumatized that her world was really messed up. In a human, we would say she had severe PTSD.

It’s timed to coincide with the birthday of James Madison, known as the father of the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Madison believed deeply in the importance of access to information in a free society, and in the press as an essential tool for self-governance.

No one should feel frightened to disagree in Wyoming

After spending a week in Cheyenne, I came away feeling fearful — something that has never happened before to me in this wonderful state of Wyoming.  There are legislators that, in my opinion, need to be taken to task for some of the things that they said and did during the session.
Normally, I don’t worry about disagreeing with someone. We were able to have our differing opinions and move on. That is the American way, that is the Wyoming way.

Dear Editor:
We have all heard on the ruling from Alabama with IVF.  I was recently asked how this can be. I know what they were trying to say.  How could we go from abortions to IVF and I’m afraid I didn’t answer well.  I think this ruling is horrible. Oh, I know you think they fixed it, but they did not.  

I will say this and get it out of the way first: I hate Daylight Savings Time

I hate the time change, even though it is one of the signs of Spring and we all look forward to Spring. So, in a way, I guess it’s okay.
Other signs of Spring that I have seen and heard include seeing some returning birds and some changing the way they sing and call.
