Chamber meeting today at noon

Missing and Murdered Indigenous People (MMIP) activist Nicole Wagon is a hero. Two of her daughters, Jocelyn and Jade, were murdered. Nicole is raising Jade’s two children. Nicole doesn’t wear a cape, but she wears scars.

Good people die and bad people live

Why do bad things happen to good people? It is a question, I think, most of us have asked ourselves rather often, particularly when bad things happen to people we love and care about, or to ourselves. Well, most often it is not actually a question, I think, as much as an outcry; it is not really that we are looking for explanations or other kinds of answers. In asking, we air our frustration in order to alleviate our emotional agony.

New babies on our farm

We don’t have cows anymore and I have kept everyone up to date on my experiences with lambs, but this year we did get a couple of new babies on our farm.

Anger, hurt, accusation abound. When someone disagrees with our opinions, they are labeled haters. Have we lost our ability to love even by measure? In conversation, rather than listening and learning, are we looking for the breath to interject an opinion-override demanding acknowledgement of our supremacy in intelligence.

I will be traveling to Texas this weekend to attend a surprise baby shower for our middle daughter who is expecting to deliver her first baby this summer.
As I was preparing for my trip, I began to recollect the anxiousness, joy and anticipation I felt while pregnant with her. On one hand it seems like I was in her shoes not that long ago, while on the other it feels like it has been a lifetime.
