The Rattlers hit the road this week with games in Greybull on Tuesday for the minors and majors and all three levels in Thermopolis on Thursday.

Otto Rattlers fall to Lovell and Thermopolis

It was a learning week for the Otto Rattlers on all levels as they each added a loss to the books. The Babe Ruth team hosted its first home game against Thermopolis on Thursday night. Thermopolis took control of the first inning, scoring eight runs. Otto fought back with Will Hatch and Taft Winters both walking and then stealing around to home, Elijah Rice getting walked and scoring on a sacrifice fly from Joe Worthen and Matt Tempany getting walked and advancing around to home.

Little League teams notch first wins of season Thursday

Two South Big Horn Little League teams picked up their first wins of the season Thursday evening at the Art Schutte Sports Complex.
The bleachers were packed for much of the evening as the Bandits’ majors’ and minors’ teams hosted doubleheaders against clubs from Thermopolis.
On the minors’ side, the Kustom LLC team got the breakthrough it was looking for, rolling to a 10-4 victory.  It was their first win of the season. Jesse Reber sparked the offense with a home run.

Husky trap team wraps up season earning fourth in conference

The Wyoming State High School Clay Target League has wrapped up its spring season after five weeks of competition. The Burlington Huskies finished fourth in their conference.
The top five for Week 5 were: 1, Kole Walker, 39/50; 2, Hunter Aagard, 38/50; 3, Brikton Wardell, 37/50; 4, Wyatt Kasprowicz, 35/50; 4, Izzy Young, 31/50.
In overall conference standings, Aagard placed ninth, Walker placed 14th, Wardell placed 21st and Kasprowicz tied for 22nd. On the female side, Ava Wennberg placed 10th.

Riverside trap team ends third season with two making top 25

With the conclusion of week five of competition, the Riverside High School trap team wrapped up the spring shoot season. They moved into fifth place in their conference and had two top 25 finishers with Ridge Lewis in 17th and Mason Rosencranse tied in 24th.
Individual top five scorers of the week were 1, Lewis, 42/50; 2, Rosencranse, 41/50; 3, Avery Clifford, 37/50; tied for 4, Eli Jensen, Cal Reuter, Lane Owen 31/50.

Majors team evens record at 3-3, hosts Thermop today

A 7-3 win over Otto on Tuesday, May 21 sent Greybull’s Big Horn Federal majors team into the Memorial Day weekend with a 3-3 record.
The team of 11- and 12-year olds consists of Katie Bertolini, Noah Blakeley, Marshall Brown, Colt Collingwood, Brendyn DeShazer, Tanner Dunlap, Jayden Fielding, Irving Gallegos, Kayson Herebia, Wyatt Kunkel, Jack Olmstead, Giana Rodriguez, Xiomara Rodriguez and Will Winkler.

Otto Babe Ruth wins opening game

The Otto Babe Ruth team had their season opener on Saturday in Lander and won in a tight 11-10 game. Will Hatch scored the only run for the Rattlers in the first inning by stealing around the bases after being walked. Matthew Tempany pitched five-plus innings with Hatch at catcher. “Those two were a great combination,” said Coach Janalee Call. Lander scored five in the first inning and Tempany struck out one.

Sprinters power Rebel teams to top-five finishes at state meet

The Riverside Rebels saw eight of their athletes reach the top of the podium and their boys and girls teams each finish among the top five in their divisions at last weekend’s State 1A Track and Field Championships in Casper.
“From those who won multiple gold down to the single-event qualifiers, everyone performed exceptionally well,” said Coach Jason Mitchell. “I was very proud of their effort.”

Huskies are back-to-back state champs

The Huskies have wrapped up their track and field season with another state championship. This is a back-to-back win for the Huskies and their third title in the last four years. “I was really happy with the way the boys performed. The wind made some events pretty challenging, but the kids came through,” said Coach Ryan Olson.

Burlington trap team stays in fourth

Burlington’s trap team completed Week 4 of competition by increasing its team score. Raising their overall team score has kept them solidly in fourth place in the conference behind Goshen County, Wright and Wheatland.
Individual conference standings see Hunter Aagard tied in eighth place, Kole Walker tied in 13th and Brikton Wardell and Wyatt Kasprowicz tied in 19th. On the female side, Ava Wennberg is tied for 13th.
