Paxton and the Lady Rebels named to All-Conference and All-State teams in end of year honors

The Riverside Lady Rebels sent three girls to the Class 1A Northwest all-conference team with one honorable mention for the 2023-2024 season. Brooklynn Paxton, Johnna Clifford, and Vinaya VanderPloeg received all-conference honors. Varissa Olsen was all-conference honorable mention, just missing out on the top honors after a tie-breaking vote.

The Lady Huskies have completed their 2023-24 season and Jessie Michaels, Selena Call, Breanne Walker, Dalley Bassett and Naomi McNiven received Class 1A Northwest all-conference honors. They joined Kenzy Day and Arianna Foster from Dubois, Kezia Washakie from Ft. Washakie, Kayla Horsen from Meeteetse and Johnna Clifford, Brooklyn Paxton and Vinaya VanderPloeg from Riverside.

Basketball season has ended for the 2023-24 year and post-season awards have been announced. Seniors Casey McNiven, Toby McNulty and Jordan Michaels joined Nate Hinkle from Dubois, Jason Moody, Johnathan Ogden, Joe Pina, Max Potas and Ethan Salzman from Meeteetse, Hayden Paxton and Josh Wildman from Riverside and Canyon Egger from Ten Sleep in earning Class 1A Northwest all-conference honors.

Lady Rebels look to future after sixth-place finish

The Riverside Lady Rebels have officially ended their season, placing sixth at the State 1A Basketball Championships in Casper. With a team largely compromised of underclassmen, the Rebels netted a record of 13-15 for the season.
In Casper, the Lady Rebels faced off against the Upton Bobcats on Thursday, losing 65-30, but they rose again on Friday and topped Rock River, 40-36, only to be bested by Little Snake River in a heartbreaker of a finale that ended their season, 47-45.

Lady Huskies beat Cokeville for third

The Lady Huskies faced some obstacles at the state tournament but put up a strong showing and earned third place. “Overall, I am really proud of the way that the girls played this weekend,” said Coach Cheryl Haslam. “They stepped up at the right moments. Obviously, we would have loved to be in the championship game, but I am very pleased with third.”

Local wrestlers qualify for national meet

A week after their high school seasons ended, Bennett Sanford, Braxdon Patterson, Caiden Sorenson, Tawny Bertolini and Gabby Dowling were back on the mats in Lander, competing in Wyoming Amateur Wrestling Association’s junior and female state competition.
Sanford, wrestling at 132 pounds, took fourth in Greco and fourth in freestyle.
Bertolini, in the 130-pound girls division, placed second in Greco and fourth in freestyle.
Dowling took second in Greco and second in freestyle in the 140-pound girls division.

Good aces No. 2 at Midway Golf Course

The only thing that might be more uncommon than a hole-in-one, which is something very few golfers ever experience, is a hole-in-one on a Wyoming golf course in February.
Most years, Midway Golf Course is buried under several inches of snow.  But the unseasonably warm weather changed the equation, allowing golfers to take aim at temporary greens well in advance of their normal season.
