Men’s hoop league organizing

An organizational meeting for adult basketball league play will be held at the Greybull Recreation District office on Monday, Feb. 12 at 5 p.m.  Fees, times, dates and other organizational means will be determined at the meeting.  If you are interested in playing, please attend.

Three win titles on home mats for Greybull-Riverside

Greybull-Riverside won three individual titles and placed seventh as a team at its annual memorial tournament held Saturday at Buff Gym.
Tawny Bertolini and Gabby Dowling reigned in the girls division and Ty Strohschein was the only wrestler to break through in the varsity boys division.
Moorcroft dominated the 13-team field, earning 205 points.  Thermopolis was second with 171.5, followed by Lovell with 86, Lander Valley with 71.5, Powell with 71 and Dubois with 68.

Lady Huskies on an 11 game win streak

The Lady Huskies continue to rack up the wins with just two weeks left in the regular season. Thursday, they hosted Ten Sleep and won 54-11. “The girls came out really strong and played well in the first quarter, scoring 23 points to Ten Sleep’s 2,” said Coach Cheryl Haslam. “After this quarter, we started trying different things on offense so that we could play a game and not have the clock run right away before halftime. The girls worked the ball around and tried to get the best shot on offense.”

Lady Rebels stumble, drop 2 of 3

The Lady Rebels had a tough week, losing two of their three games. They faced off against and lost to Greybull 42-28, topped Shoshoni 42-36, and fell to Big Horn 50-33 across three consecutive days during a break from conference play.

Rebels go 0-3 against 2A opponents

The Riverside Rebels treated a three-game stretch of games against Greybull, Shoshoni and Big Horn as an opportunity to measure themselves against Class 2A opponents before heading into the final stretch of games against conference opponents.
While their overall record took a hit, as the Rebels lost all three contests to drop to  4-14, Coach Scott Winters saw things he liked about his team’s performances and believes it will be better off in the long run from the experience.

Huskies fall to Meeteetse in tight game

The Huskies continue to move forward as they completed the ninth week of the basketball season with two wins and a loss. “Steps in the right direction was the theme of our week,” said Coach Kirby Winland. “All week during practice and during games, we saw the team making progress and taking steps in the right direction.”

Rebels bounce back from loss, stop Ten Sleep to move to 2-2 in league play

The Riverside Rebels lost to Burlington but defeated Ten Sleep to reach the midpoint of the Class 1A Northwest Conference schedule with a 2-2 record.
Coach Scott Winters said he saw encouraging signs in his team’s 50-36 loss to Burlington and 48-35 win over Ten Sleep.
“We had a really good start (in Burlington),” said Winters, whose team led 16-11 after one.  He attributed its success to execution on the offensive end and some nice defensive stops, adding “We shot the ball well and played within the rhythm of the game.”

Lady Rebels fall, then rally in weekend split

The Lady Rebels split their weekend games, falling against Burlington, 60-29, on Friday night before routing Ten Sleep, 59-15, on Saturday.

Huskies edge out the Rebels

The Huskies hosted Riverside on Friday in an important Class 1A Northwest Conference game.
Joe Bassett put up the first two points for the Huskies, but Riverside answered back with a two of their own, which set the tone for a back-and-forth first quarter. Riverside held the lead until about halfway through the second and the teams went into the half with the Huskies up 26-20.
