Husky Cross Country team earns wins at Conference meet

The Five Rivers Conference Regional Cross-Country Meet was held in Ethete on Friday. Pushing the meet back a day because of weather didn’t stop the Huskies, who came home with the boys team championship and two individual titles in the boys’ and girls’ divisions.

Lady Rebels dominate weekend net play

The Riverside Lady Rebels remain undefeated in conference play after claiming victory over three conference opponents this past weekend.
The netters handed out defeats to Ten Sleep, Burlington and Fort Washakie, earning themselves an 8-0 record heading into their final week of conference play before the Class 1A/2A West Regional in Riverton next weekend.
“We are continuing to grow as a team on and off the court. It is important for us to pull together and build the strengths of each player,” said coach Cindi Smith.

Rebels shoot down the Buffs

Last Friday night Riverside traveled to Greybull to take on the Buffs for their homecoming and senior night.  Riverside took the lead and kept it all game, winning 24-14.  “It was admittedly a sloppy game on our part but give credit to Greybull for putting us in some tough situations,” said Coach Jason Mitchell.

Burlington harriers post personal best times in Powell

The Burlington Huskies harriers competed in Powell on Thursday.  It was the conference meet for the middle school and the final regular season meet for the high school.
Kellen Winters completed his undefeated season in the middle school boys’ division with a time of 11:32 in his two-mile race.

Lady Huskies see tough competition in Basin

It was all things volleyball in Basin over the weekend for the 1A Jamboree. The Lady Huskies joined 13 other 1A teams in the tournament. “It was a great weekend of volleyball, there were lots of good matches to play and to watch,” said Coach Erin Bassett. “It was nice to get in the gym with teams we will see in the postseason.”

Lady Rebels dealt tough jamboree weekend

The Riverside Lady Rebels hosted what proved to be an arduous 1A jamboree last weekend when they faced some steady competition and lost three out of four games on their home court.
Coach Cindi Smith called the jamboree “a fun weekend filled with lots of competitive volleyball.” The 14 varsity and six JV teams that participated required all of Basin’s facilities and a ton of community support to run games, for which Smith expressed appreciation.

Huskies roll over Kaycee, host Ten Sleep Friday

The Burlington Huskies extended their win streak against Kaycee on Friday, bumping their record to 5-1 and 4-0 in conference play. “We played a pretty physical game. Kaycee is a tough team with some good players,” said Coach Trent Aagard. “I thought we did a good job of matching their intensity from the start.”

Riverside earns first win over Rocky since 2011

Riverside earned its first win over Rocky Mountain since 2011 on Friday night, topping the Grizzlies 30-26 to move into third place in the conference standings.
Riverside’s main quarterback, Josh Wildman, had to sit out to rest an injury so Avery Clifford stepped into the quarterback position. Clifford had only taken a few snaps as quarterback this year and the coaches had to fill his spot on the offensive line.

Riverside JV wins at Rocky

Riverside’s JV came away with the 42-30 win over Rocky’s JV. Assistant coaches Matt Jensen and Matt Craft traveled with the team to Cowley while head coach Jason Mitchell stayed back to work with some of the varsity.  
Avery Clifford had two rushing touchdowns and one passing touchdown. Zack Kuntz had two rushing touchdowns. Ryder Kozisek had one receiving touchdown and a defensive touchdown, returning a fumble 50 yards, while also hauling in a two-point conversion pass.  Ethan Olson also caught a two-point conversion pass.

Good, Shepperson secure all-around titles

Casey Good and Dusdee Shepperson maintained their hold on the men’s and women’s all-around titles at the Big Horn Rodeo Circuit Finals held Saturday, Sept. 16 at the Lovell Rodeo Grounds.
Good, of Greybull, finished the season with 75 points, adding yet another all-around title to his collection. J.T. Collingwood finished second with 66, followed in third by Burk Pallesen with 51.
