Everyone at the Big Horn County Library wants to thank all our winter break reading participants! We had a great turnout! Special shout out to Kolton Baril, Cecily Tolman and Cydney Brown for completing the program and winning the drawing for $20 gift cards.

Sometime back, I shared about a mouse that was living in my stove, particularly the oven. Well, we got that one, but another showed up and he was a cheeky bugger.

I am already comfortable writing “2024” down as part of the date when I have to date something; usually it will take longer before I no longer have to think about what year it is, or have to make a correction because I forgot that it is a new year. This time around, it has been the other way around: I found myself tempted to write “2024” already in December. I have no idea why that is. But then, there are so many things I do that I am not sure why I do.

Done dreaming and ready to start living

Now that we have flipped the calendar, closing 2023, my mind reminisces of the year left behind. I am not sure exactly how or why but it seems when you get older the days tend to fly by. The days turn to weeks, then weeks to months and before you know it here you are, face to face with 2024.

A friend stopped by a couple weeks ago and we went to my back porch, which is where all of my canning is stored. She remarked on all of the canning I had back there and was amazed that there was so much, so the talk turned to why I do it. Why do I can so much stuff? There are a few reasons, most of which are common sense, but there is at least one that may surprise people.
First of all, I can because I enjoy it.
